What is the FeelThought?
FeelThought is a mental health platform crafted to address the unique mental health needs of Indians, providing access to advanced therapeutic expertise and well-researched knowledge to foster genuine transformation. The name reflects a core philosophy: while thinking our way out of problems is necessary, it must be balanced with the capacity to slow down and engage deeply with our emotions—both positive and challenging—to cultivate true self-awareness and to feel truly connected to ourselves.
About Me
Being a psychotherapist actively influences what I am 'about' as a person. Like everyone else, I am a meaning-making individual who is ever curious about ways in which we can improve our well-being. Through my training and my own healing journey, I was able to see how inter-generational and cultural trauma, influenced by various oppressive systems, deepened by the intersectionality of one's identity have impacted our ability to feel like our true selves. In my work as a therapist, I aim to externalize self-limiting beliefs, the most common one being, "I am not good enough" that one has internalized due to various kinds of traumas in their lives and restore a sense of authentic self that can feel healed, secure, and at times, like home.
After completing my Master of Education and Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology- Clinical Mental Health from Teachers College, Columbia University, it was time to choose a therapeutic modality to adbance my training. Upon reading and training in multiple approaches, I found immense value in bringing AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy) into my work. AEDP is a recent, advanced, integrative model that draws from various trauma-informed therapies and adds unique value to them. I am a certified AEDP Level-3 Therapist. AEDP interventions hold immense power that help transform emotional pain from the very root. It has the tools that help rewire our brains from survival to thriving and flourishing. One of the ways it achieves this is by teaching us how to drop our protective mechanisms that had once helped us but are currently getting in the way of taking in new experiences and living life fully. Through this journey, we can be re-wired to focus on the positive, take in the lighter aspects of life such as appreciation, trust, joy, love, and care. I provide therapy for people who want to heal from emotional pain that seeds from difficult familial relationships, traumatic childhood events, relational trauma, loss of any kind, or various other traumas that might have happened later in life. I am a queer-affirmative therapist and operate from a social justice lens.
I am incredibly excited to bring my knowledge and training to you through the FeelThought!
